Starting Over With Purpose

Starting over later in life wasn’t something I planned — but it became something I needed

For a long time, I found myself searching for meaning again. Wanting to be more present for my tamariki, tōku whānau, aku mokopuna. Wanting to be someone they could rely on — emotionally, physically, and financially. I wanted to move through life with independence, strength, and peace, rather than simply surviving from one moment to the next.

Like many people, I’ve had to make ends meet while navigating health challenges and life changes. Along the way, I began to realise that health is not something we can afford to take for granted. Watching loved ones live with conditions like diabetes showed me first-hand how deeply lifestyle choices affect our quality of life. It was a quiet wake-up call — one that asked me to slow down and really look at how I was caring for myself.

That’s when my journey toward a more mindful, plant-based lifestyle began.

It wasn’t about perfection. It was about awareness. Learning what I could do for myself, one small step at a time. Food became more than fuel — it became a way to support my body, my energy, and my long-term wellbeing. I began to notice how much lighter and clearer I felt, not just physically, but mentally too.

At the same time, I found myself enjoying something unexpected — learning new skills. Educating myself about nutrition, wellness, social media, and digital tools. Starting a business wasn’t just about income; it was about purpose. About building something meaningful that could support my family while allowing me to keep growing as a person.

This space — Nature Nurture Vegan — is a reflection of that journey. It’s not about having all the answers. It’s about sharing what I’m learning, what’s helped me, and what continues to support my wellbeing as I move forward. Gently. Honestly. In my own time.

If you’re here because you’re starting again too — whether with your health, your lifestyle, or your sense of direction — know that you’re not alone. Progress doesn’t have to be loud or fast to be real. Sometimes, starting over is simply choosing yourself, one day at a time.

If this resonated with you, you’re welcome here.
